Arab Climate Center – Engineer Ahmad Al-Arabeed
Followers of the Arab Climate Center from Germany are asking about the unusual and rare occurrence of prolonged dry weather and lack of rainfall across Germany and much of Europe.
In previous reports, we mentioned that the reason is the persistence of a strong, unusually intense high-pressure system for this time of year. This high-pressure zone has maintained its strength continuously due to the positive phase of the Arctic Oscillation, marked by low pressure over the polar cap.
This is indeed an unusual pattern and signals a potentially atypical winter ahead for the Northern Hemisphere. We have conducted statistical comparisons to better understand how this could impact the season and the general pattern of atmospheric lows. We plan to publish our findings soon here on the Arab Climate Center, God willing.
