Arab Climate Center – Engineer Ahmad Al-Arabid
We are closely monitoring the arrival of a comprehensive and heavy-rainfall weather front to the region. Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, northern Egypt, western Iraq, and parts of northern Saudi Arabia are expected to witness excellent amounts of rain. This front comes after a prolonged dry spell this season, bringing back the distinctive winter atmosphere to the region.
Weather Front Details
Timing and Impact:
During the last third of December, the likelihood of cold winds gradually reaching the region has increased. This is due to low atmospheric pressure in the polar vortex, which trapped cold air within it. As atmospheric pressure rises in some high-latitude areas, cold air masses have begun spreading across the northern hemisphere.
In recent days, the western areas of Syria, Lebanon, northern Palestine, and northern Jordan have received excellent rainfall, while central and southern Jordan and Palestine continued to experience dry conditions.
